Proseal capitalises on cardboard skillet trend

Proseal has developed a sandwich packing system to handle the increasingly popular cardboard skillet form of packaging in a cost-effective way.

The Proseal SP60 (pictured) is capable of assembling and sealing up to 90 cardboard sandwich skillet packs/min. It can handle a variety of skillet formats – widths from 63mm to 108mm – with a five-minute size change that can be carried out by line operators.

The SP60 is also modular in design so customers can specify conveyor length, width and tray pitch. The menu-driven control panel includes step-by-step prompts, error and status displays and a batch pack counter.

Proseal managing director Robert Hargreaves said: “It has been designed to maximise throughput and minimise labour requirements.”

The SP60 is manufactured to food industry-approved hygiene standards with washdown protection. An advanced tool alignment system, combined with full temperature and seal pressure control, ensures a consistently accurate seal.

Meanwhile, the conveyor drive system controls linear acceleration, deceleration and velocity of product movement and helps eliminate spillage.
