Tetra Pak to introduce new dairy filtration system
Tetra Pak has teamed up with technology specialist FluXXion to develop "a new generation of filtration" for the dairy industry.
The FluXXion technology consists of wafer-stacked microsieves with equal-sized pores that uses a cross-flow system with continued back pulsing to remove unwanted organisms before pasteurisation.
FluXXion chief executive Thijs Bril said the technology was based on "advanced semiconductor technology".
Netherlands-based FluXXion will manufacture the component filter parts for integration into Tetra Pak's filtration systems for milk and cheese products.
FluXXion was awarded Technology Pioneer 2008 by the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
