Tetra Pak to invest in Modena
Tetra Pak is expanding its presence in Modena, Italy with a EUR15m (£12m) investment in its research and development, test and assembly facility there.
The investment will create 50 new jobs.
Tetra Pak Packaging Solutions vice president and managing director for the Modena site Ivano Selmi said the expansion reflects the company's "focus on cost driven innovation".
Tetra Pak has invested more than €25m in its Modena site over the past five years.
The company established the Modena facility in 1979 as the first site to assemble aseptic packaging outside of Lund, Sweden.
The facility today houses an R&D centre, a worldwide marketing and product management team, global development and test and assembly of A3 platforms.
In June Tetra Pak announced it would invest €90m in building a new packaging material factory in Pakistan and €30m in printing and laminating technologies at its packaging materials plant in Monte Mor, Brazil.
A further €26m was invested in a new packaging materials plant in Rubiera, Italy in May, while in 2007 a £100m converting plant was opened in Moscow, Russia to serve the Eastern European liquid food market.
Tetra Pak Packaging Solutions vice president Ivano Selmi is also managing director of the Modena site
