An online brand management system has been launched that promises to cut product development time and costs for brand owners and retailers.

The web-based system from Odin, based in Greengates near Bradford, brings together all elements of the product development, design and approval process.

Odin, owned by Watt Gilchrist and part of Sun Chemical, has developed the system over the past four years, working closely with clients including retailers Asda and Somerfield.

The product has three main modules: Odin On Time, Odin Sprint and Odin Assets.

Odin On Time manages the production cycle by planning the entire workflow and execution process, giving specific tasks to individuals within the team and providing updates on the project status to the brand manager.

Odin Sprint controls the design and graphics management process, offering a best-practice workflow.

This includes generating briefs for suppliers, allowing amendments to be made online in real time so that multiple users can approve artwork simultaneously, and an email alert system to remind of overdue tasks.

Odin Assets is a central storage and retrieval system for all photography, logos, design briefs, advertisements, brand guidelines and graphic elements.

Odin executive director Martin Hawkins (pictured) said: “Having Asda and Somerfield already as clients has exposed us to 90% of brand users in the UK.

“We think now is the time to get the company set up to be a software provider.”

Implementation costs depend on the number of users and files involved.
