Popularity with packagers boosts KBA sheetfed salesstevenkiernan, 15 August 2007Be the first to comment on this article Sales of sheetfed presses to the packaging industry have helped German press giant KBA grow turnover in the six months to 30 June.
Around 45% of KBA's sheetfed sales over the past two years have been to the packaging industry, where the firm has a strong presence in its domestic market. KBA said its large-format Rapida 205 sheetfed press had enjoyed success with UK packaging manufacturers. KBA also benefited from the contribution of its metal decorating presses arm MetalPrint, which was consolidated into the group in the second half of 2006. This helped to produce a 3% rise in new orders of sheetfed kit to £253.6m. Sales exceeded orders in both KBA's sheetfed and web press divisions, cutting its overall order backlog by 15% to £594m. The company predicted the sheetfed backlog would keep its plants in Radebeul, Germany, and Dobruska, Czech Republic, busy until well into the fourth quarter. KBA's pre-tax profits increased by 37% to £17.4m, while total sales rose 9.4% to £540m. Speak Your Mind |
