Redpack Packaging Machinery has said it has secured two new orders for flow-wrapping machines from a Nigerian manufacturer of mosquito repellent products.

The new machines mean the company, which Redpack declined to name, will have a total of 16 Redpack machines at its facility.

Norwich-based Redpack has custom designed the P325 machines to flow wrap mosquito booklets at a rate of 250 a minute from a Longford Feeder connected to the machine.

The booklet is made of up leaves that are removed and burned and the fumes repel the mosquitoes. The firm also manufactures mosquito coils and soap.

Booklets are sold individually hanging on a string and the machines will be fitted with perforating knives so that the packs are joined together and grouped into a preset number.

Redpack sales and marketing manager Peter Smith told Packaging News that the new machines would be delivered “in a couple of months”.
