Redpack wraps up shorter runs

Redpack Packaging Machinery is targeting companies that deal with small-volume product lines with its latest flow-wrapping machine.

The launch comes after managing director Mike Briston passed the day-to-day running of the firm to his sons, Stuart and Jeremy, to assume the role of company chairman.

Norfolk-based Redpack said the P100, which costs £16,000, was ideally suited to applications in the bakery and confectionery sectors, where a wide variety of products were handled in a single shift.

The P100 can operate at speeds of 20 to 150 packs per minute, with widths of 35cm or 45cm.

Accessories include alternative in-feed arrangements, date coding and gusseting, and the machine is also available in a stainless steel version for ease of cleaning.

Redpack is currently enlarging its site and new production bays will be added to the factory later this year. The company’s offices are set to be extended in 2009.

The sales and service teams have also been reorganised, with Steve Crow becoming the main contact for new machinery sales.
