Sealed Air showed off the European version of its Shanklin Omni shrink packaging machine (pictured) at its recently upgraded Packforum showroom, which was reopened during the Emballage exhibition last month.

Packforum, a permanent exhibition facility for Sealed Air’s shrink packaging unit near Paris, covers 1,900sqm and is the largest site of its type anywhere in Europe.

The Omni at Packforum is one of only two in Europe. The second is set up for demonstrations at Sealed Air’s Bradford equipment centre.

The Omni G is a traditional drive machine that operates at 80 cycles per minute and has a standard jaw opening of 20cm. The Omni S is servo-driven with additional programmable features for end-seal and opening. It operates at 100 cycles per minute and has a jaw opening of 25.4cm.

Either Omni can be configured with interchangeable in-feed units and servo motion-control technology that senses when a new in-feeder is attached and calculates the spacing and type of packaging film required.

Sealed Air’s shrink packaging marketing director for Europe, Helios Ruiz, said the firm hoped to break into the continental Europe market with the machine.

“When you buy this one machine you can shrink pack many different types of products,” he said.
