Skanem rolls out web cleaning technologyJill Park, 21 May 2010Be the first to comment on this article Self-adhesive label specialist Skanem has installed 15 Teknek web-cleaning units across its global network of sites as part of its rollout of the technology. Teknek NWP Contact Cleaner systems use a specialist elastomer roller that removes dry unattached particles from the web before printing to avoid hickeys. The dust is trapped in a reverse wound adhesive roll that, when full, can be removed. A total of 15 units have been installed across Skanem operations so far, including units in Newcastle, Durham, Cardiff, Liverpool and Skurup. Skanem UK managing director Steve Dunne said: “We use the Teknek contact cleaners extensively across the UK sites as they are proven and efficient.” Norway-headquartered Skanem employs 1,100 people in 12 factories across eight countries, including Thailand.
