Swanline Print, a supplier of printed packaging and point-of-sale displays, has placed an order for the world’s largest-format flatbed automatic die-cutter.

The SOL 2517, manufactured by US-based Nuri, has a maximum cutting size of 1,700mm x 2,500mm with full auto-stripping and downstacker.

The company told Packaging News that the machine would be housed at its Stone, Staffordshire site and would increase its capacity, speed of work and help to secure new customers.

“This equipment complements our Automatan EM laminator and gives us the ability to die-cut and strip sheets at speed,” said managing director Nick Kirby.

“Large format die-cutting previously created a bottleneck due to the reduced speeds on our hand platen machines.”

The machine is due to be delivered in May.

The company is also in the process of buying a new factory, which will give it 161,293sqm of additional production space. The new site will become operational in June.

It was also planning to make further investment in the coming year, Kirby added.

The company offers a range of printing options including litho lamination, screen print and film lamination with die-cutting and multi-point gluing.
