Point-of-sale display specialist Swanline plans to target the large format and point of sale markets when it installs its new large-format die-cutter next week.

The Nuri SOL 2517 die-cutter, which cost in excess of £300,000, can run sheets of 1720mm by 2520mm at speeds of up to 2000 sheets an hour.

Staffordshire-based Swanline plans to use the machine to target the large format packaging and point of sale market.

“We’ve already taken on an order that previously had to be done in two-pieces and hand glued into place,” said Swanline managing director Nick Kirkby.

Manufacturing this order on the new Nuri SOL 2517 die-cutter will reduce the unit price of each box by a £1 per box, he explained.

This investment follows shortly after Swanline expanded its premises by 1440m² this year to house its screen-printing operations.

The original 3716m² facility on the same site is now dedicated to the litho-lamination operations and houses a £400,000 laminating machine that was installed at the end of 2007.
