Benson Group scoops packaging world’s top prize

The company received its awards from the gala event’s host BBC sports presenter John Inverdale at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

Managing director Mark Kerridge said: “This is a tremendous achievement for us as a business and for all our employees. I am sure that news of these awards will also be well received by our many customers in both the food and pharmaceutical sectors.”

Meanwhile design agency Webb Scarlett deVlam walked away with four awards – Design Company of the Year, Best Packaging of a New Product, Innovation of the Year and the Glass Packaging prize.

Other major winners included Smurfit Kappa, Chesapeake Branded Packaging, Crown Speciality Packaging Europe, DS Smith Packaging and Linpac Group.

While this year’s Outstanding Contribution Award went to Peter Williams, the former chairman of RPC. He told the 300-strong audience: “I am lucky to have been blessed with working with so many outstanding people.

“We all have our moments when we curse our competitors but it’s a wonderful, innovative and creative business, which makes it so exciting to be involved in.”
