EasyFairs targets creatives with London packaging show launchJosh Brooks, 22 February 2010Be the first to comment on this article EXCLUSIVE – EasyFairs is to bring its Packaging Innovations show format to London this autumn in a new event targeting the capital’s design and marketing community. The show organiser has revealed plans to host the new show at the Business Design Centre in Islington on 7-8 October just days before its flagship annual event at Birmingham’s NEC opens its doors this Wednesday. Matt Benyon, easyFairs UK managing director, said the show would focus on innovations in packaging and would “particularly attract the brand and creative types whose work commitments make it hard to find the time to travel to Birmingham”. “Three quarters of visitors to the easyFairs packaging event at the NEC do not come from London and the South East, a statistic that has improved over the years, but can’t be ignored.” Up to 150 exhibitors will be at the show and the organiser is hoping to attract more by offering a special price of £1,000 per stand for any exhibitor who signs up for the 2011 NEC event during this week’s show. Packaging News will be the exclusive media partner for the event, while the British Contract Packers’ and Manufacturers’ Association will run its Contract Pack zone at the show. Alongside the focus on primary packs, there will also be a Print for Packaging zone and an Ecopack zone at the event. EasyFairs’ annual packaging event at the NEC opens on Wednesday and will play host to around 400 exhibitors across the Packaging Innovations, PackTech, Ecopack and Contract Pack shows. Benyon told Packaging News that the idea to run the London event had developed following the launch of easyFairs Packaging Ireland last year. “Our exhibitors know and understand the value of the easyFairs concept of time and cost-effective events which puts the emphasis on business and sales, so coupled with the improving yet still challenging economic climate, an event in London was an obvious move,” he said.
