Chesapeake, Clifford Packaging and Polythene UK are among the firms that will be throwing themselves into the Lions’ Lair at the month’s easyFairs show at the NEC.

Cellac UK, Food Packaging Resource (FPR) and Item Products NPD complete the line-up of the second Lions’ Lair, which aims to encourage exhibitors to promote their most innovative products to the panel of judges.

This year’s Lions are Paul Beer from Boots, Alan Moffat from Heinz, Mark Masento from Tesco, Karen Graley from Waitrose, Gordon Stewart of the Packaging Society and Packaging News editor Josh Brooks.

FPR will be showcasing its Spooncup product that features a built-in stirrer for hot beverages on the move, while Clifford will be displaying its new wine box.

Item Products will be showcasing its trundler system for corrugated box packaging, Cellac its resealable pack and Polythene its range of compostable bags.

Chesapeake will be looking to convince the Lions of the benefits of its CartonBag concept.

Janet Shipton, Chesapeake divisional design and development director, said: “It can be hand packed or fully machine automated, so there’s a lot it can offer and we’re confident it will attract the judges’ attention.”

The four easyFairs packaging shows run on 24-25 February at the NEC in Birmingham. The Lions’ Lair will take place on both days at 1pm in learnShop 3 in the Packaging Innovations section.
