JOINT WINNERS

Parkam Foods and Asda Stores: Asda Extra Special pre-packed cooked meat
Parkam Foods’ decision to combine EZ Peel and resealable technology in one pack for Asda broke new ground for one of our judges, who declared: “It’s about time someone nailed this one”.

A thin adhesive layer is exposed once consumers open the PET Peel-Reseal film on the Asda Extra Special prepacked cooked meat, providing them with a recloseable pack that can be opened with a simple application of pressure from their fingertips.

The combination of materials makes the packaging suited to sliced meat as it retains the product’s freshness without the need for further wrapping.

The pack also features a recyclable mono-APET base from Bemis, offering greater clarity and improving product presentation.

FFP Packaging Solutions: Birds Eye Iglo Simply Bake to Perfection Fish
A “neat idea”, according to one of our judges, the film packaging for the Simply Bake to Perfection freezer-to-oven fish portions automatically vents steam during cooking so customers do not need to pierce the pack. The ‘Bake Perfect Bags’, from FFP Packaging Solutions, are a strip-metallised PET/PET laminate, and were designed following research that showed consumers were often wary of cooking fish. The reel-fed laminate features a heat-seal coating for sealing on HFFS or VFFS machinery.
