It appears the sliding action of Burgopak’s slick cartons never gets old. It kept our judges entertained as they tested the pharmaceutical packs put forward for this year’s Design Company of the Year award. While Burgopak functions as both design agency and manufacturer, it cannot be denied that its innovative packs for Rennie ICE and PocketPak, which mark its move into the pharamaceutical sector, are great works of engineering. “We loved them. They made us smile and laugh out loud,” said one judge. “We feel the idea has many more uses and can be built upon.” These thoughts were mirrored by another of our judges, who said: “A beautiful, exciting, engaging pack concept with a multitude of relevant applications.” Burgopak’s recent partnership with RxPak, a division of healthcare services company McKesson Corporation, marked the company’s entrance into the US market. Surely only bigger and better things are to come from this innovative company.

Jones Knowles Ritchie received nothing but praise from the judges, who loved the company’s engaging visuals. What’s more, the firm behind designs for Hovis, Cheestrings and J2O has had an impressive impact on sales. Its Molton Brown Christmas box delivered a 50% boost to sales for the gift range, increasing to more than £3m in extra gift sales from a £45,000 investment.
