Origin Wine: Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Fairtrade South
African Sparkling Moscato Rosé
This category is always a close one and it was no different this year. On top in 2012 is Origin Wine for the closure on its Moscato Rosé for Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference range. The Zork closure allows consumers to re-seal the bottle and keep it fresh for another day. The bottle combines both premium wine cues with a stylish six-colour, clear label. It’s a closure that might give the product the edge in the fairtrade wine category, a sector that’s growing fast along with the lighter alcohol market. The Zork cap wowed the judges with several noting how well it works and very much fulfils a need. “The closure retains the ‘pop’ upon opening, which gives an element of theatre for the consumer. It’s simple to open and is intuitive,” said a judge.

ColaLife: AidPod
This well executed design from charity ColaLife has gained plenty of plaudits. The pack fits the space between bottles in Coca-Cola crates in Africa and carries anti-diarrhoeal kits to remote rural areas. It fits exactly
into the unused space in the crates, piggy-backing on the supply chain.

Topdental Products: Virofex
Plaudits also go to Topdental Products for its highly innovative Virofex, a pack designed to dispense infection control chemicals for dentists that replaces standard five-litre storage containers. “Brilliant,” one judge said.
