Atlantic Zeiser has launched a high-definition version of its Omega 36 inkjet printer at Interpack today (29 April).

The HD version prints at 720dpi, compared with the previous 360dpi model. The higher resolution makes it possible to print smaller font sizes and reduce the size of data matrix and bar codes.

The double resolution is made possible by a smaller ink droplet size.

The machine can print on a number of substrates, including PET and polyolefin, making it suitable for a wide range of packaging applications.

Bernhard Thomma, manager of marketing services, said: “We are taking everything we know from our work in biometric passports and applying it to packaging.”
