Avery Dennison Printer Systems has developed an RFID bar-code label system for the retail and defence industries.

The package comprises the company’s ItemSight software, bundled with a scanner and optional label production systems, which include Avery Dennison’s AP5.4 and 64xx series of printers and its ALX print and apply systems.

The package enables users to convert their existing bar-code container labels to meet RFID requirements. An operator scans the existing bar-code label and converts its data into formats compliant with not-for-profit standards organisation GS1’s EPCglobal standard.

With an optional Avery Dennison printer, users can produce Gen 2 RFID-enabled labels and bar-code labels for application beneath the container label.
