3 Sigma, the Ohio-based supplier of pressure-sensitive labels, has launched a water-dissolvable label stock.

The labels consist of supercalendered paper and WD-1 adhesive, both of which dissolve quickly and wash away in room temperature water.

The company said the label stock is ideally suited for marking and identifying food trays, water toys, sports equipment, watercraft and returnable containers.

Paul Benson, product development manager, said: "Many manufacturers and end users seek a temporary label product that is environmentally benign and can be easily removed. This label stock has great potential for new and innovative applications and was enthusiastically received by label producers during beta testing."

3 Sigma, which was set up in 1980, produces labels for the food and beverage, industrial, medical and health and beauty sectors.
