‘Connoisseur-designed’ pack for super-strong Marmite hits shelves

Marmite’s new extra-mature variant is being introduced to Tesco and Morrisons stores today in packaging from Core Design.

The new XO version is matured four times longer than the standard version to make it thicker and create a more intense flavour. It has been available at Waitrose and Selfridges last week.

The product was created by a team of Marmite connoisseurs, dubbed the Marmarati in brand owner Unilever’s campaign, and the packaging has been design to reflect that.

Core Design creative director Alastair Whiteley said: “With vintage details like the heraldic crest and watchstrap seal, and a strong black, gold and cream colour palette, it’s a bold, sophisticated design that stands out on shelf.”

The jar is sold in a black and gold presentation crest across the front and side faces.

Last month, Packaging News revealed that Core Design had developed a limited edition pack for those ‘Marmarati’ that had been involved in developing the new product line.
