Cartonplex buys Braille inspection kit

Barcelona-based Cartonplex has purchased Dotscan equipment following investment in anti-counterfeiting machinery last year, and said the new machinery helped it remain at the forefront of technological development in the pharmaceuticals sector.

General manager Joan Gamez said: “Inspection equipment that makes the production process more efficient and raises our reputation for reliability even further will be greatly appreciated by our customers.”

Dotscan inspects pharmaceutical cartons in less than two seconds per position and practically eliminates the risk of error compared to visual inspection.

The technology measures the height and position of the dots on the cartons to ensure that the Braille meets international standards.

Clondalkin’s speciality packaging division acquired Cartonplex in 2007. The division comprises 20 manufacturing sites in Europe and North America and accounts for around 30% of Clondalkin Group’s EUR800m annual sales.
