Mondi has mooted increasing containerboard prices in the autumn after announcing a EUR60 per tonne rise for unbleached kraft liner from September.

The announcement comes less than a month after the packaging giant said sack kraft paper grades would increase in price by EUR 100 a tonne from 1 August.

In a short statement this morning, Mondi said it would be increasing the price of its unbleached kraft liner by EUR60 (£50) a tonne from 1 September.

“Increased input and transport costs in a tight market have made this step necessary,” Mondi said.

It continued: “Due to the tight market, prices for other grades of containerboard may also increase in the autumn.”

Mondi Containerboard is part of the Anglo-South African firm’s Europe & International division and supplies both virgin and recycled board.
