Sun Chemical plans variable-data packaging with new inks

Ink manufacturer Sun Chemical is promising a new age of variable-data printing in packaging with the launch of a new colour-change ink.

SunLase is designed for inline patch printing and subsequent marking with laser technology and, unlike other inks on the market, is able to be printed on a wide range of substrates.

The ink is sensitive to specific low-energy laser emissions and uses CO2 absorbers and advances in polymers, allowing various substrates to be marked on the production line.

A preview of the ink was given on Sun Chemical’s stand at the Easyfairs Packaging Innovations show two weeks ago.

Tony Palmer, Sun Chemical’s Packaging business director, said: “We are excited to be able to launch a colour-change ink range which facilitates our customers to have improved output, efficiency and cost reduction.

“This is the ideal solution for businesses looking seriously at packaging innovations and environmental issues.”
