Chesapeake develops paperboard pods for liquids

The Impressions range of packaging is manufactured using a low-energy process that can form paperboard material into distinctive shapes.

The material has a textured surface that adds an extra element to packs and is being aimed at the confectionery, drinks and healthcare sectors.

Chesapeake has developed the processing techniques for the range using Fibreform, a type of paperboard material provided by paper manufacturer Billerud.

“We’re in the early development of concepts, but there is market interest in its potential uses and the extremes of its use for shapes and material content,” Chesapeake marketing manager Bob Houghton exclusively told Packaging News.

“We can see wide applications for it ranging from a novel consumer pack to revisiting formats such as sachets,” he added.
