David Workman joins CPI after nine years at British Glass

The Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) has announced that British Glass director general David Workman will become its new director general from next month.

Workman has been at British Glass for the past nine years following a career in the printing and glass sectors. He was also president of European glass body CPIV and will succeed Martin Oldman, who is retiring, in April.

CPI president Bob McLellan said the organisation was fortunate to have found someone of Workman’s calibre. ” I look forward to working with him in order to further promote and defend the interests of all sectors of the paper and related industries,” he said.

Workman said: “All sectors of manufacturing face similar issues which need to be dealt with through a recognised trade association. I look forward to working with the CPI’s team in order to raise the profile of all paper-related sectors and to providing additional added value to the members.”

British Glass president Stephen Pollock-Hill thanked Workman for his hard work at the organisation. “He has been a keen advocate for the industry both within the UK and in Europe and the Confederation wishes him every success in this new venture”.

Workman’s successor has not yet been announced.
