Corrugated group Weedon PSC has installed a new Lunex litho laminating production line to meet growing demand for its litho-laminated corrugated packaging.

The kit has been installed in a purpose-outfitted unit at the firm’s Hednesford, Staffordshire-based site and will operate alongside Weedon’s Bobst Visionfold folder-gluer and Visioncut die-cutter.

Weedon said that the latest investment would allow it to boost existing capacity, manufacture new products and secure the jobs of its staff.

Managing director John Weedon said: “We have seen strong growth in demand for litho-laminated corrugated, including micro-fluted materials, over the past 12 months.

“Within this growth there has been a noticeable increase in orders for retail-ready packaging.

“Combined with our recent Bobst investment, this machine will give us a huge increase in capacity for on-shelf and PoS display products, enhancing our quality print offering to the market.”

Weedon has been in business for 22 years and supplies a range of corrugated, retail-ready and transit packaging formats.

It also provides contract packing and filling services to a range of companies including Asda, Black & Decker, Tesco and Northern Foods.
