Drive for UK corrugated producers to adopt recycling logo

Every printed corrugated container produced in the UK could feature an internationally recognised recycling logo if a campaign launched today is successful.

The Corrugated Recycles campaign is backed by the Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI) and the Sheet Plant Association (SPA).

They aim to spread UK adoption of the Corrugated Recycles logo – widely used in the US, Canada, Latin America, Japan and the Far East – by sending guidance notes to all UK corrugated box manufacturers. No UK companies currently use the logo.

Corrugated board has the highest recycling rate of any packaging type in the UK, at 84%, and saves an area the size of Greater London from landfill every four months.

CPI corrugated section manager Andrew Barnetson said the simple, low-cost logo would benefit end consumers and corrugated producers.
