Flexible plastics group CeDo has named Les Jakeman to the newly created role of group manufacturing director.

Jakeman will head up manufacturing operations across the household disposables group’s sites in the UK, Poland, Holland, China and Vietnam.

CeDo produces a wide range of own-label flexible plastics products for supermarkets such as bin liners, sandwich bags and nappy sacks. It has turnover of around EUR 225m and more than 2,000 employees.

CeDo group chief executive David Pearce said: “This new role is all about maximising the potential of the CeDo Group worldwide.

“All of the CeDo group companies have got something to offer each other and Les is the ideal man to coordinate the various aspects of technology transfer, shopfloor best practice and production gains.”

Jakeman added that he would oversee nearly 50 planned projects over the next three years.

“Many of these are matters of new product development and new intellectual property. My job is to ensure that our production is as effective and standardised as it can be in order to meet the challenges of expansion.”

Jakeman has more than 35 years’ experience in the film extrusion business. He was manufacturing director at Poly-Lina from 1986 to 1998 and at CeDo from 1998 to 2002.

Jakeman has also held positions at extruder manufacturer Gloenco and factory manager at plastic film extruder IPEL.
