Ilapak is to launch a new flow-wrapper aimed at the first-time automatic packaging machine user at this week’s Bakery industry Exhibition.

The flow-wrapping, bagging and weighing kit specialist is unveiling the Smart, an entry-level horizontal form, fill and seal machine that is capable of speeds up to 100 packs a minute.

The company is targeting the four-metre-long PC-controlled machine at first-time users of automatic packaging machinery in the makery, fresh produce and confectionery markets.

It has a no-product-no-bag function, misplaced product detection and automatic size change facilities as well as a 64-product memory.

Ilapak managing director Guy Levy said the Smart was one of the latest developments from the group’s R&D facility that focused on “top quality service and the lowest-possible energy and material consumption” in order to minimise running costs.

The Bakery Industry Exhibition is now on at the NEC in Birmingham and will run until Wednesday.
