British Glass has appointed Dave Dalton as its chief executive as part of a restructuring following the departure of David Workman.

The restructuring is designed to “meet the diverse and challenging needs of the glass industry in these globally difficult economic times”.

As well as Dalton’s appointment, James Chisholm has been named chief financial officer and John Stockdale promoted to the role of environmental director.

Dalton was previously general manager of the Glass Technology Services division of British Glass that provides operating areas of consultancy and analytical and data services.

He said he was delighted to be given the opportunity to build new links with the industry and stakeholders and bring “unrivalled quality of service, excellent representation and tangible benefits right across the glass community”.

“The glass industry faces many issues and I’m confident that we can meet those challenges with the professional team of people that we have here,” he said.

Workman left British Glass after nine years last month by mutual consent and was announced as the new director general of the Confederation of Paper Industries last week.

British Glass president Stephen Pollock-Hill said: “The restructuring of British Glass will enable the organisation to service the future needs of the glass supply sector at national and international level.”
