M&S links with Closed Loop to offer office pack recycling
Closed Loop Recycling and Marks & Spencer have launched a service to collect and recycle packaging from offices as part of the relaunch of the retailer's Food to Go range.
The scheme, which will handle all recyclable packaging, not just that from M&S products, will charge offices 95p to collect every recycling bag that customers fill.
The service will initially be available in Greater London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, with the aim to roll it out to all regions by 2010. The frequency of collection by contracted waste companies will vary according to customer requirements.
The packaging of M&S's relaunched Food to Go range will feature details of the scheme. M&S said 90% of Food to Go packaging would be recyclable.
Chris Dow, managing director of Closed Loop London, said: "We are thrilled that a retailer like M&S has decided to offer this scheme to other offices. This is a clear message that we all need to do what we can to recycle as much as possible."
Closed Loop told Packaging News that the scheme had received 40 enquiries since its launch at the start of April.
