Sessions gains DataLase rights

Sessions of York, the self-adhesive label specialist, has signed a 10-year exclusive worldwide licence to use DataLases patented process indicator ink technology.

Sessions will use the technology in the manufacture and market of its Detex sterilisation indicators – small self-adhesive labels that undergo a colour change when exposed to gamma radiation – as it looks to expand its presence in the medical, surgical and food sterilisation industries.

The paper labels with permanent adhesive are printed with DataLase ink that changes from yellow to red when activated at the required level of radiation.

Sessions offers two standard versions of its Detex labels: the Dots, which are unobtrusive 12mm circular labels; and the Stripes, which are 48mmx23mm with an 8mm strip of Detex ink printed down one side, which enables overprinting with variable information such as batch and product number.

DataLase has also signed a distribution agreement for the USA, Canada and Mexico with Ferro Corporation. The firms will work together to develop a laser-marking aerosol.
