Sun Chemical, the ink and coating specialist, has formed an alliance with Keating Specialist Cylinders to develop and bring to market a gravure packaging solution.

The companies aim to jointly develop their offerings to customers in the metal decorating, specialist coatings, decorative print, micro emboss and security printing sectors.

Tony Palmer, business director of Sun Chemical’s packaging division, said: “By combining Keating’s expertise in specialist cylinder technology and our innovative ink and coatings solutions, we have a strong platform to bring unique products to the market and allow brand owners and packaging producers to achieve improved shelf stand out for their products.”

In 2007, Sun Chemical developed a range of inks and lacquers, known as Tactile. When applied to printed packaging products using a special Keating gravure cylinder, these inks give characteristics that can add value through touch and feel.
