Sun Chemical develops security inks for packagingliz.wells@haymarket.com, 2 September 2008Be the first to comment on this article Ink manufacturer Sun Chemical has developed SunGuard Apollo security inks for packaging and commercial printers. The inks use infra-red (IR) responsive pigments which can be used either within an ink or as a clear varnish, including over-varnishing holograms, without losing any brightness. Sun Chemical said the SunGuard Apollo technology uses pigments from a secure supply chain and offers a combination of security features to protect brand owners from counterfeiters. The firm said IR security inks are less common than UV fluorescing inks and represent a “real covert security option” for protecting packaging, labels and documents. It is possible to use both IR security inks and UV fluorescing inks on the same product without compromising on style, design or colour. Sun Chemical controls the distribution of the detection device that works with SunGuard Apollo, which is only available after clarification of use. Sun Chemical marketing director for UK and Ireland, Emma Isichei, said: “SunGuard Apollo inks have a unique combination of security features and form part of a total solution, all from just one supplier.” Speak Your Mind |
