The environmental credentials of plastic materials and products, including packaging, is highlighted in a special supplement in The Times today (1 April).

The supplement, Plastic is fantastic for the Environment, will make the case that without plastics, the weight of packaging would increase by 400%, energy use would double and waste would rise by 150%.

Calum Forsyth, president of the British Plastics Federation and group managing director of Wavin UK, told The Times that the plastics industry was "fit for the future" and elaborated on the UK industry's competitive edge in global markets, in particular its capacity for innovation.
