Gulf growth draws UK firms
In response to growth in the Middle Eastern plastics market, for the first time the British Plastics Federation (BPF) is taking a British group to the Arabplast exhibition held in Dubai, January 13-16.
Nine companies have already signed up but the number is expected to increase because more companies will be entitled to the £1,800 UK trade and investment grant. This is because a change in the rules now places the United Arab Emirates as an ‘emerging economy’.
BPF’s business development manager Iain Mcilwee (pictured) commented: “The Middle East is a vast market with outstanding potential for export.”
The Dubai plastics industry is growing at nearly 20 per cent per annum with the importation of plastics goods more than doubling in the last four years. Dubai acts as the re-distribution centre for the region and direct re-export trade is valued at around £5.5bn.
Companies interested in joining the British group at Arabplast should contact Stephen Hunt at the BPF on 020 7457 5044 or email shunt@bpf.co.uk. For further information visit www.bpf.co.uk/bpftools/Arabplast.cfm
