Alcan opens first flexi site in India
Alcan Packaging plans to open its first flexible packaging factory in India this year.
The multinational group has made an initial investment of £5m (US$10m) to build and equip a new factory in Haridwar, Northern India.
The new factory will open in the fourth quarter of 2007 and will eventually employ more than 150 people. It will supply flexible packaging for the Indian food and personal care markets.
“The Indian market represents one of the most attractive future growth opportunities in flexible packaging in Asia today,” said Marie Bérard, director of communications at Alcan Packaging in Paris.
“We hope this project will be the first of many in India for Alcan in the coming years.”
The new site will increase Alcan Packaging’s presence in Asia to 27 manufacturing plants in 10 countries.
