Can makers Impress and ORG link for Chinese market push
Impress, the metal packaging specialist, is making a major push into the Chinese market after signing a co-operation agreement with can maker ORG.
Under the terms of the deal, ORG will sell Impress’s range of metal packaging products across China.
The deal also provides for a future joint venture in China to produce metal packaging, notably two-piece printed steel and aluminium cans.
Impress currently operates mostly in Europe, the US and Canada, although it also has sites in Japan and the Seychelles.
Impress chief executive Francis Labbé (pictured) said the agreement was a “major strategic opportunity” for both companies.
“We are pleased to have joined forces with ORG, which has demonstrated a professional and dynamic approach to the market that is close to our own,” he said.
There is no reciprocal arrangement for Impress to sell ORG products in Europe.
Impress operates in the food, home improvement and personal care markets, and has annual sales of around £1bn.
