EAFA presents Ecopla and Austrian firm Constantia with Alufoil award

The creativity and innovation of two metal packaging manufacturers was recognised when they received awards from the European Aluminium Foil Association (EAFA) on the second day of Total.

Ecopla Benelux, a subsidiary of Nicholl Food Packaging, and Austrian firm Constantia Teich were among the seven winners of the Alufoil trophy 2007, from the 32 entries from manufacturers across the continent.

Constantia Teich won the award for its Low Seal Lidding, which Unilever Food Europe is rolling out in coming weeks for its range of margarines. The seal provides a tight and peelable seal on PP and PS containers at temperatures 50 degrees lower than has previously been possible.

Ecopla was recognised for its aluminium foil tray – topped with a transparent and anti-fog Apet dome – designed for roasting joints of meat, which was praised by the judges for its combination of good on-shelf visibility and consumer convenience.
