Budelpack unveils Pep-Up resealable drinks pouch
Budelpack, the Cambridgeshire-based contract manufacturer and packer, has chosen Total for the global debut of its Pep-Up liquid pouch.
The pouch removes the need for a straw or sports cap closure, employing instead an integrated spout system, which reseals itself when inverted.
Each pouch, including the spout, is made from one piece of single-polymer material, reducing product complexity and production costs.
Budelpack offers the pouch in 100ml to 330ml sizes, all of which are produced on a specially adapted Volpack SP220.
The pack has also been developed in stand-up form with a corner dispenser in place of the spout system.
Budelpack has also addressed the age-old problem of getting sauce out of a sachet with the launch at Total of the Easysnap monodose sachet.
The easy-open sachet snaps to release the liquid inside in one action, ensuring the entire product is dispensed.
Only one side of the sachet can currently be printed on, but the company is investigating the possibility of printing front and back to ensure maximum branding.
Packs range in size from 2ml to 20ml and are being targeted predominantly at the food market, although the technology is suitable for other applications.
“Most big brand owners realise they have to innovate,” said Budelpack account manager Jeff Parry, who said companies must “innovate or die”.
However, the company is keen to emphasise that it will continue to produce its core range of products.
Budelpack is on stand 4290E.
