National agreement for paper industry improves leave and sick pay
The paper industry has agreed a new industrial award to cover 3,000 workers across the UK.
Unite and the Confederation of Paper Industries have concluded a new national agreement with improved paternity and bereavement leave and sick pay.
Peter Ellis, national officer at Unite (Amicus section), said members strongly endorsed the new agreement, which was the result of 18 months of negotiation and consultation.
"I believe this new agreement raises the employment standards for workers in the paper manufacturing industry," he said.
"It reaffirms the commitment of Unite members and those conforming companies of the CPI paper sector to a modern and sustainable approach to good industrial relations, so necessary for the security of our members' jobs in a stable business environment.”
