Quinn Group cuts 41 jobs with Newbridge shutdown
Quinn Group's packaging plant in Newbridge, in the east of Ireland, is shutting with the loss of 41 jobs.
After a detailed review, the company decided it was "not economically viable" to keep the plant open in the current climate of the packaging industry.
The County Kildare plant, which opened in 1987, is set to close before the end of the year, but most work will cease by the end of October.
The company has entered into discussions with staff representatives.
Quinn has owned the plant since 2004, when it bought Barlo Group and moved into the packaging market.
It has recently built a new packaging operation in County Cavan, close to its group headquarters.
