Coke tests resealable can closure from Ball Packaging

Ball Packaging Europe is behind a new resealable drinks can closure being trialled by Coca-Cola in the Channel Islands.

The flat plastic tab, which swivels over the can opening, is the result of a long-term project by the packaging firm.

A Ball spokeswoman said Coca-Cola had been involved in the "realisation of this project" and would have "certain exclusive rights" over the closure.

Ball makes the closure at its factory near Bonn, Germany.

Coca-Cola has completed tests of the closure in Germany, Jersey and Guernsey. It is assessing the success of the closure, but has no plans to introduce it in the UK.
