PFM targets pillow pack bags with wrapping kit
PFM Packaging Machinery has developed a new form, fill and seal wrapper for producing pillow pack bags from heat-sealable film.
The Leeds-based firm originally developed the PFM Comet for an unnamed producer of jelly sweets. It was supplied with an MBP multi-head weigher and currently has an operating speed of 140 packs per minute.
It is now offering the vertical packaging machine to others in the snacks, confectionery, cheese and frozen food sectors, especially where gas flushing of products is required.
PFM vertical form, fill and seal machinery department manager Ermanno Rossi said: "The PFM Comet has been very well received in all industries that require small pack sizes at high speeds."
The machine features a new-generation 'long dwell' rotary sealing system, which can achieve 200 mechanical cycles a minute with guaranteed hermetic sealing. This is said to make it suitable for packaging cheese, particularly mozzarella in brine, because leakage is low.
