DHL Exel adopts Timestrip to monitor pharma goods in transit

Timestrip's smart label technology has provided DHL Exel with a cost-effective method of quality assurance when transporting pharmaceutical products.

The logistics firm used Timestrip's iStrip label to monitor the temperature of sensitive products such as medical vaccinations during transportation in a pilot project.

Mike Meakin, quality director for DHL Exel Healthcare EMEA, said one of the biggest challenges facing logistics companies was temperature assurance in frozen, chilled and temperate conditions.

"It is now clear that we can use Timestrip and iStrip labels to highlight whether a temperature limit could have been breached," he said.

The iStrip label undergoes an irreversible colour change when exposed to freezing temperatures.

Timestrip has already signed major partnership agreements with Plastek, CCL Label and Curver to integrate its smart labels into caps and closures and use them for expiry date indicator labels.
