Impress targets personalised cans with speedy digital print system
Metal packaging manufacturer Impress has developed a short-run digital printing system for metal cans to meet customer demands for speed and personalisation.
The firm is installing the first digital printer at its site in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands.
The dPrint system will enable Impress to deliver fully decorated cans in small quantities and within very short lead times.
"The process time from artwork to the final printed product can be reduced to a few hours," said Woep Möller, managing director of Impress Specialities division.
The dPrint system will not be initially available at Impress's UK plants, but sheets can be printed at Leeuwarden and shipped to the UK.
Installation in the UK will depend on success from the current machine and demand from the UK market.
Impress said the dPrint service was suited to personalised printing, promotional and seasonal products, and market testing.
