Cleanroom paper & spin-disc suppliers

Joanne Gardner tracks down the solutions to your print problems

Q I’ve been asked to print 100,000 A4 letterheads in one colour onto ‘cleanroom’ paper. I’ve talked to a few paper merchants and they have never heard of it. I’ve found a few suppliers on the internet but they only supply A4 – ideally I need A3 - and some prices come out at £80 per 250 A4s. Do you know of a supplier who might be able to supply in bulk, or in a larger sheet size?

A There are a number of companies that specialise in cleanroom products, so I suggest you go to them rather than the usual paper merchants. Cleanroom paper is basically dust-proof and has been developed for use in critical and sterile working environments such as hospitals. The Cleanroom Shop (www.cleanroomshop.co.uk , 015242 74177) has quoted £49 for a pack of 250 A3 22.5LB blue munising paper. Contact Jeni Berril at Jeni@connect2 cleanrooms.com if that interests you. Otherwise, Guardline Technology (www.guardlinetechnology.co.uk ) is the main European distributor of Kimberly-Clark’s Munising LP paper, which apparently benefits from low static build-up and particle generation. Call 01842 822150 or email sales@theguardlinegroup.com. Another one to try is Basan (www.basan.co.uk ), which also supplies cleanroom paper with minimal static charging properties, which I assume would be of interest to your client if they have the more common application in mind. Call 01256 364711 or email info@basan.co.uk.

Q Please can you help me find printers/producers of spin-discs?

A From looking at the PDF you sent, I can see you mean the type that has a smaller disc rotating on top of a larger one. Now, it depends whether you’re looking to have them produced onto plastic or cardboard, but I’d say quite a few of the printers that specialise in promotional products would be able to help. Depending on the quantity, whether you are looking to have them cover-mounted, polybagged, printed on both sides etc, it would be worth approaching The Advertising Gift Works (www.giftworks.co.uk ). Contact Chris Yale on 02380 693 777 and mention Help Line. Others to try are Acrobat Promotions (info@acrobatpromotions.com), Conquer Promotional Solutions (sales@conquer.co.uk), Creative Promotions (enquiries@creativepromotions.co.uk) and 4imprint (www.4imprint.co.uk). Contact Kirstie Reader on 0845 634 2915, or kirstie.reader@4imprint.com.
