Wright Machinery merges with PPM

Wright Machinery, the food processing and packaging equipment manufacturer, has merged with US-based firm PPM Technologies.

Wright managing director James Walsh said the merger would "provide access to a broader market" for the company's products and enable it to take advantage of PPM's global supply chain.

"Half of our volume is sold in the Americas, and the merger gives us the ability to make more of our products closer to the customer," he added.

Middlesex-based Wright produces processing equipment for the food market, such as seasoning and coating machines, as well as bagging machines and conveyors.

PPM Technologies manufactures processing machinery such as friers, washers and peelers, and was formed last year from two divisions of FMC Technologies, Allen Systems and PPM.

The merger between PPM and Wright was completed on Friday (2 May). Walsh said there would be no change to the company's UK operations.
