Five manufacturers have joined together to produce a UV flexo printing solution for solvent-free and food approved flexible film packaging.

The Gidue Athena digitally-controlled mid-web press now incorporates the Aldyne inline plasma treatment from Air Liquide, Softal and UV Time, inert atmosphere curing integrating the latest 1ST Metz air-cooled MBS lamp modules and gas sealing technology from Air Liquide and Gidue.
The solution uses low migration inks from Sun Chemical, which meet standards for ink component migration and odour in food packaging.

Federico d'Annunzio, president of Gidue, said: "We can meet the current and future needs of converters, retailers and brand owners by offering a complete UV flexo print solution for food packaging."

The Athena press concept will be shown in hall 10, booth C40 at Drupa 2008, while the Aldyne Flex module will be displayed in hall 11, stand A27.

Drupa runs from 29 May to 11 June at the Messe, Dusseldorf.
